Remember at the beginning...
When we were young, when we understood words like 'Harambee';
When we sang songs about 'tuungane pamoja';
When we were proud to be Kenyan;

When we celebrated Kipchoge, Rono the athletes (not the tribe);
When we spoke of the freedom fighters with pride;
When we laughed at each others different accents from around the country (all in good fun) in the knowledge that it made up who Kenyans are;
When we welcomed and lived in harmony with foreigners running from affliction from neighbouring countries;

When we travelled the world and when asked where we came from we proudly said 'Kenya' expecting the world to know who we are/were?;
We had the fastest runners, the most beautiful country in Africa (so we thought), the most friendly & welcoming people, the most beautiful wild life and landscape, the most progressive African country;

When did we become a tribe??? Where have we gone wrong?

In order to move on from what has happened we need to find forgiveness for the atrocities, we need to realise we have been duped into thinking tribe matters when it doesn't. Last not least we need to remember the poor they are the most affected by the last few months violence and maybe they need to feel more inclusive. In the West as we all know fighting poverty helps to fight crime/violence/desperation etc (sorry a bit long!)
