Poem From derek oduor
Dear,i did not forget valentine's day,
but it was just things were tough,
I couldn't get flowers coz the roads were blocked,
and in the flower farms there were no workers,
Many of them were, displaced, maimed, chased, warring and others killed.
Dear i did not forget to send you a card,
but it was just there were no papers,
Most of the trees were razed because they did not vote, vote wisely, voted wrongly,
and were in ashes,
The printers shop was burned by the marauders,
there were no pens for the stationers were looted, and the only pens were with the foreign scribes,
And worst of all were the suppliers trucks had been burnt and were from another tribe.
Dear, i did not forget to send yuo a text,
but it was just that scratch cards were not in supply,
The wholesaler and retailer were fearful to open,
but worst of all were their mother tongue was not of my father's,
I had no words for many were charged in charged moods and mobs,
All my words were for calm, many took no heed of them for they were not my
tribes words.
Dear,i did not forget to come and see you,
It was just i didn't know if i could find and face you,
I was afraid to walk through stones, barriers, fires and bullets
But i was most afraid of my and your life,
Did not know if you were displaced,in hospital ,prison or at worst dead.
Dear,i did not forget what tribe you were,
It was just that i never saw you in that light,
I always regarded you first as a human, then alover,a kenyan,
but never how you said hi,in your tongue,
Forgive me for all my omissions for dear, you and i,have no tribe,
The minority who are to be the majority,The I HAVE NO TRIBE....
THE TRUE KENYANS
